Beach baby

I have been dreaming about sunny days spent on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves crashing. The idea of a bikini scares me, but nonetheless a day at the beach in California sounds lovely. I made this beach inspired wooden necklace the other day in the midst of daydreaming.

The beach color scheme includes a light blue to represent water, a calming color. The natural twine sandy color brings a sense of earth tones, and the wood gives a nod to traditional beach shacks. A muted orange & blue-green would have been nice, building on the whole beach theme. Made by simply using painters tape…

My day-at-the-beach essentials:

I came across this orange and blue radio, perfect for the beach. Water & sand proof, and compatible with your iPod or iPhone. Love it! Mandalay sounds radio by SunnyLIFE.

Honestly, I want this sunscreen for my baby. Honest sunscreen by The Honest Company (the natural baby accessory line started by Jessica Alba). Provides UVA + UVB protection and contains organic ingredients. Check it out… “ONLY contains the following 8 organic, natural, and edible-grade ingredients: 25% Zinc Oxide, Eldorado Springs Artesian Water, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Shea Butter, Vegetable Emulsifying Wax NF, and Vegetable Vitamin E.”

Baby powder. To “wash” your hands of sand from the beach. A helpful hint I found on Pinterest ~ defintely need to remember this.

Sun protection tips for your little one:

Keep your baby out of the sun as much as possible before 6 months.

Stay out of the sun between 10 am & 4 pm… when the sun rays are at their strongest.

Keep in mind that baby can get burned even on cool or windy days because their skin is thinner, and more delicate.

Cover your baby’s arms and legs in lightweight, lightly colored clothing when possible.

Remember to hydrate your baby w/ breast milk or formula, and water for older infants.
